LINKS TO KEY INFORMATION RESOURCESRegional District of Nanaimo Growth Strategy The Regional Growth Strategy (RGS) is in place to guide the future growth of our area. The strategy is based on research and sets out guidelines for development that make social, environmental, and economic sense. So far, our elected officials have included developers' proposal in the OCP review process. We think that's wrong. Our Strategy, and the Official Community Plans that implement it should not be influenced by the agendas or interests of developers. City of Nanaimo Official Community Plan The proposal put forward by Canadian Property Investments (1997) Inc. lie within the political boundary of the City of Nanaimo. They are, however, physically within the region of the RDN known as Cedar/Yellowpoint. Decisions about the future of the 500 acres of land surrounding Cable Bay Trail, Dodd Narrows, the Garry Oak Meadow, and Joan Point will be made by the City of Nanaimo. (See Take Action page) RDN Area A Official Community Plan OCPs are the rules that implement our Regional Growth Management Strategy. Getting them right and ensuring they DO implement our RGMS is the job of the people we elect and us. Our OCP is about to undergo its scheduled ten-year review.
